In March this year the government published draft proposals to reform the laws around Special Educational Needs in England. This is the first part of the stage to overhaul and introduce new laws that relate to assessments and rights of parents and pupils. They have not yet made their intentions clear of their proposed timescales.
In summary, the draft law proposes to reduce the number of assessments that is needed by a child experiencing learning disabilities. It plans to reduce the time it will take to obtain a statement and enhances the say that parents have in the education of their child with SEN. (more…)
